Do I need SSH or FTP access?

No. UpdateKing works exclusively through a signed HMAC plugin in your Joomla installation. No SSH, no FTP, no backend access required. That is part of our security model.

Which Joomla versions are supported?

+

Joomla 4, 5 and 6 are fully supported. Joomla 3 is no longer supported (end-of-life). The plugin is listed on JED and Joomla-certified.

Can I switch plans anytime?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately, downgrades at the end of the billing period. On downgrade, excess sites become read-only. Data is preserved and returns on the next upgrade.

What happens when I cancel?

You can cancel monthly. Everything stays active until the end of the billing period, already paid amounts are not refunded. On request we delete your account including sites (invoices remain archived for 10 years per German tax law GoBD).

Where is my data stored?

On servers in Germany (Mittwald, Espelkamp). A standard DPA per Art. 28 GDPR is available at /avv as PDF.

Does UpdateKing create backups?

No, by design. We rely on Akeeba Backup Core (free) or your host's backup. Before every core update you confirm via mandatory checkbox that a current backup exists. A detailed guide is available at /backup-anleitung.
